NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Cops say a hit-and-run driver who struck an officer was caught laying low in his Bronx apartment.

Robert Rivera allegedly hit the officer after a traffic stop in University Heights.

When his Toyota sedan was pulled over for excessive window tinting, near West 183rd Street, Rivera apparently made a series of bad decisions.

Rivera got into with an officer, was TASERed by police, and took off in his vehicle striking an officer in the foot, police said.

The vehicle was found ditched a few blocks away, and members of the NYPD's warrant squad picked up Rivera in his apartment at the Bronx River Houses.
