St. Patricks Cathedral vandalized

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man has been arrested after St. Patrick’s Cathedral was spray-painted with graffiti amid ongoing protests over police misconduct and racial bias.

Yadir S. Avila Rosas, of Queens, was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and making graffiti, the NYPD said Saturday.

Police said they believed the 26-year-old was the getaway driver and that they were still searching for two women in connection with the graffiti.

The cathedral was spray-painted last Saturday as protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody were happening throughout the city, police said.

The NYPD said earlier this week they were looking for two women who spray-painted Floyd's name on one of the stairs and "BLM" on the wall before running on East 51st Street towards Madison Avenue.
