NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez almost didn’t get to the Queens Pride parade and festival on Sunday after getting sick, but she ultimately made it out with the help of some rest, cold meds and Vicks VapoRub.

AOC originally posted Sunday morning that she had fallen ill and wouldn’t be able to make it out to the annual celebration of the LGBTQ community in Jackson Heights.

“I was super excited to march in Queens Pride today, but sadly I came down with a really bad cold this weekend and won’t be able to make it,” she wrote.

“Our organizers will be marching + tabling at the festival with resources for the community. Celebrate extra for me!” she continued.

But by afternoon, she posted an Instagram video of her with a box of DayQuil and said, “I’m trying to rally to at least pop by the Queens Pride Festival.”

Then a couple hours later, she posted another video of her at the pride celebration in a bright outfit.

“Lots of makeup and cold medicine later and here we are!” she captioned the video. “Couldn’t let this suit go to waste.”

She ultimately credited rest, medicine and the age-old remedy of Vicks VapoRub as the remedy that helped get her out in the streets to celebrate.

"Thanks to some extra rest, medicine + vaporu we were able to rally + join everyone for a bit at #Pride today," she wrote.

Videos and photos from the event show fans lining up to meet AOC. She's also seen hanging out with Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer and Queens DA candidate Tiffany Cabán.
