NYPD work to protect NYC mosques in wake of New Zealand terror attack

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD says while there are no specific threats, it is closely keeping an eye on local mosques in the wake of the terror attack on two mosques in New Zealand.

The NYPD said in a statement, “The NYPD in conjuction with our law enforcement partners is closely monitoring the events in New Zealand and in an abundance of caution is assessing security locations around the city.”

A worshipper at the Islamic Culture Center told 1010 WINS, “I feel better when I see the police.”

Police Commissioner James O’Neill asked New Yorkers to remain vigilant, tweeting, “If you see something, say something.”
