NYPD: Woman, 64, in medically-induced coma dies after East Harlem rape

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) --  Police confirmed on Friday that a 64-year-old woman that was raped in East Harlem in May has died.

According to NYPD, the woman died on May 27, after she was place in a medically-induced coma and her death now being ruled a homicide.

On May 23, officials arrested 38-year-old Frankie Harris who faces charges including attempted murder, rape, strangulation, and sex abuse.

Authorities say the suspect put the victim in a chokehold, knocked her down and sexually assaulted her before fleeing on a Citi Bike.

Harris could now face additional charges with the woman's death being ruled a homicide but no new or escalated charges have been announced at this time.
