NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police say a robber followed a 77-year-old man into an apartment building elevator in the Bronx on Monday and held him up at gunpoint for $18.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect on Tuesday.

The terrifying video shows a man pointing a handgun right at the victim's head outside his apartment.

The 77-year-old man was heading to his home at Southern Boulevard and Barretto Street in the Longwood section shortly before 11 a.m. when the suspect followed him into his building and onto an elevator.

Police say when the two got to the victim's floor, the thief pulled out the gun and pointed it at his head.

The man handed over $18 and the suspect ran away.

It doesn’t appear the victim was physically harmed during the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
