NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police have released a video on Thursday of a man they say is wanted in connection to an attempted rape in the Bronx.

On August 14, at approximately 9:40 a.m., a 28-year-old female was followed into her apartment on Elliot Place by the suspect, who once inside, police say proceeded to push the victim against a wall.

The suspect then attempted to cover her mouth and further attempted to pull down her pants, before the victim screamed, alerting a family member who was in the apartment at the time police say.

The victim's family member confronted the suspect, who then fled the location in an unknown direction, officials say.

NYPD Chief Dermot Shea tweeted that the suspect is "wanted in connection with a home invasion/attempted rape in the #Bronx"

Police say the victim sustained a slight injury to the face and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477.
