NEW YORK (1010 WINS) Police are searching for an unidentified male who is being sought in connection with an attempted rape in Prospect Lefferts Gardens Friday night, authorities say.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., the 30-year-old female victim was doing her laundry in a multi-unit residential building near the intersection of Lincoln Road and Flatbush Avenue.

An unidenfieid male came in and approached her with his pants down and exposed himself to her.

He then demanded that the victim engage in sexual activity with him, which the victim refused.

The male then said he had a knife, sexually assaulted the victim, and attempted to rape her.

The victim escaped the laundry room and ran into a neighbor who dialed the police.

The suspect fled the building on foot.

A local female resident thought the incident should have been more widely publicized, saying, "I think it's kind of messed up that they're not making it more publicly known; people should know. That's part of keeping each other safe is to know what's happening when and where."

The male is described as black, in his mid-20s, 6’4” and was last seen wearing a black hat, black sweatshirt, and black sweatpants.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

All calls are confidential.
