NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The NYPD released surveillance video Wednesday of a man who raped a woman in Manhattan early Sunday morning.

At 1 a.m. on Oct. 6 in Hell’s Kitchen, a woman from Yonkers asked the suspect for directions, police say.

The assailant then grabbed the 31-year-old victim by the arm and pulled her to a location in the vicinity of West 51st Street between 8th Avenue and 9th avenue.

He forced her down a flight of stairs into a basement, where he raped her, according to officials.

He then fled north on Broadway.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for bruises to her arm, back and right leg.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
