NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An off-duty NYPD school safety agent and her husband were arrested Thursday for possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device in East Harlem, police said.

Sofia Ramirez, 39, was arrested at 2 p.m. for owning a gun extender, which, according to officials, allows her gun to fire off more rounds.

After hearing that Ramirez's husband, Jason Ramirez, had multiple guns in the home, a search warrant was executed, police said.

Jason Ramirez was also arrested after authorities found eight firearms and ammo.

The school safety agent alleged that the ammo clip was hers. She was charged with criminal possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeding device and given a desk appearance ticket.

She is expected at the Manhattan Criminal Court at a later date.

Her husband was taken into custody on eight counts of weapons possession and 27 counts of carrying large-capacity ammo clips, officials said.
