NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- NYPD Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism John Miller spoke with reporters Tuesday about hacking issues in New York and how the NYPD handles such incidents.

Miller said countries like Russia, China, and North Korea hack every day. He calls it the new norm and said protections are in place.

"That's something that we look at literally every minute of every day," he said.

Miller said there is vital shared information with organizations and agencies that keep the city running; transit, water, power supplies.

He also said the city has an excellent working relationship with the FBI which has the best analysts and collectors in the world.

"There should be great confidence on the part of Americans in what they say and assess," he said.
