NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD released surveillance footage taken by a body camera in an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Sept. 17 on Staten Island.

The video shows the moments leading up to the incident, as well as during the incident and also includes audio recordings and radio transmissions of the incident.

Officer Vanesa Medina.30, was shot once in the hand while attempting to arrest a domestic assault suspect in the Stapleton neighborhood.

The suspect, a 39-year-old man, was tasered in the struggle, and officers grabbed his arm to try to prevent him from firing a gun.

The male suspect was also shot and was pronounced dead at Staten Island North Hospital.

Police said they are releasing this video for clear viewing of the totality of the incident, and have also posted the unedited body-worn camera videos for each officer involved in the incident.

In the coming weeks and months, officials say they will be sharing similar videos for other police involved shooting incidents.
