NYPD officer charged with assault for allegedly punching estranged wife in chest, head, shoulder

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An NYPD officer was arrested Monday night in Queens and charged with assault, police said. 

The NYPD identified the officer as MD Rahman, 43.

He was reportedly arrested, while off-duty, for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife on a Queens street Sunday afternoon while arguing over visitation with their child. 

Rahman allegedly punched his wife in the chest, knocking her to the ground. He then punched her in the head and shoulder, leaving her bruised. The incident took place near the Horace Harding Expressway and 108th St. in Corona.

Rahman's wife went to the hospital the next day. Police later tracked down Rahman.
