NEW YORK (1010 WINS) --  The NYPD's Emergency Service Unit was called Tuesday afternoon to investigate a suspicious package -- a brown paper bag -- left on the counter at a Bank of America branch in Chelsea by a man who attempted to rob the bank.

Police said at around 1:38 p.m., the man demanded cash and fled the bank, located at 127 Eighth Avenue, but left behind the brown paper bag.

The NYPD was then called in to investigate.

The suspect is a white man with a mustache, glasses, wearing a brown baseball cap and a green shirt.
