NYPD Holds Gang Awareness Meeting To Stop Trinitarios Violence In The Bronx

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are reportedly looking into the response to the gang killing of 15-year-old Lesandro Gusman Feliz in the Bronx last week.

The New York Post reports, the NYPD wants to know why two officers didn't seem to be coming to the teen's aid as he bled to death. Sources told 1010 WINS that the incident is being reeviewd, but is not the subject of an internal affairs investigation.

In light of the deadly attack, and a second attack on a teenager in the borough, the NYPD is taking steps to prevent any further gang activity in the Bronx.

Police held a Parental Gang Awareness meeting Wednesday night in an effort to educate the community, which fears its being overrun by violence.

“Gang members and everybody is taking over and the senior and elderly are scare to walk out of here and there’s not a lot of cops around here,” one resident told 1010 WINS’ Glenn Schuck.

The meeting came after police confirmed earlier this week that the death of Lesandro Guzman-Feliz and the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy on the Bronx River Parkway were both linked to the Trinitarios gang.

Cops and community leaders organized the meeting to ease residents’ fears and explained what they should be looking for to identify gang activity and how to handle it.
