NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City's Office of Emergency Management will have a new commissioner beginning July 1: Deanne Criswell, who has served as the federal coordination officer at FEMA working with governors, mayors and community leaders on response efforts to disasters and other incidents.

Prior to joining the city -- and after her position with FEMA -- Criswell worked for the consulting firm Cadmus, as a principal in its homeland security sector, leading engagement with state and local homeland security and emergency management clients.

Ian Kline, the president and CEO of Cadmus, said when she was hired by Cadmus, "Deanne is a highly respected national leader in overseeing the federal response to disasters."

Criswell has also served in the National Guard.
