NYC nurses vote to authorize strike

March 07, 2019 - 9:02 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Registered nurses across NYC have voted to authorize a strike at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York Presbyterian Hospital and Montefiore Medical Center.

The union, representing about 10,000 nurses, claims that management has refused to bargain over key issues such as adequate staffing, insufficient space for patients, inadequate ventilation and working temperatures that are very hot, uncomfortable and unable to comply with appropriate infection control.

This vote would officially make way for a 10-day notice of intent to strike this month.

An Additional 5,000 Brooklyn Nurses could also vote to join in on the intent to strike.
