NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A large group of young people beat and robbed a New York City nurse who recently recovered from the coronavirus, according to the New York Post.

The 60-year-old nurse, Martha Toscano of Queens, told the Post that she was heading to work at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan Wednesday night when she was attacked by about 15 people who stole her purse.

“I thought they were going to kill me,” she said. “They hit me on the head, on the face, I run and fell on the floor and they keep hitting me.”

Toscano said Good Samaritans ultimately came to her rescue but were unable to get back her purse.

Police sources told the Post that three people from a nearby group home—a 14-year-old girl, 15-year-old girl and 19-year-old man named Deshaun Harrison—were arrested. Harrison reportedly faces a robbery charge.

Toscano didn’t suffer serious injuries, but she said the attack has left her afraid.

She said she had just returned to work Sunday after staying home sick for two weeks with the coronavirus.

“My first day back was Sunday… and then this,” she said.
