NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was dragged to death by an LIRR train earlier this month in Lynbrook.

The National Transportation Safety Board is trying to figure out how 65-year-old Karl Arseth died. It happened on April 5.

NTSB spokesman Peter Knudson said the conductor reported that he saw a man stagger on the platform. He said the man had bumped into the train and somehow was pulled along the platform by the train as it tried to leave the station.

Paul wonders about the conductor.

"The policy is, I think they're supposed to look out the window exiting the station and coming into the station. Maybe they weren't watching enough, who knows," he said.

Other riders suggested that maybe his hand got stuck in the door or that his foot was caught in the gap between the platform and the train.
