NJ TRANSIT riders’ woes continue on morning filled with cancellations

SECAUCUS, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Over a dozen NJ TRANSIT trains were canceled on Friday morning, including 8 on the Morris & Essex line.

It's a continuation of a problem that New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said he would improve on, but riders say things have been less reliable.

“It’s really just a crapshoot on whether the train’s going to run on time,” said Jeremy King who has been riding NJ Transit for more than two years. “The past few months has really just been awful.”

NJ TRANSIT's number show they've had serious trouble meeting their schedule this summer. Over a 6 week period starting June 1, there were 330 trains that didn't run, and 64 more that didn't complete their runs. The usual cause? Shortage of crews.
