NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey man is now facing a murder charge in the death of his girlfriend's 7-year-old son.

The boy was found dead inside a home in Newark Monday.

Mark Harper, 36, was arrested Tuesday on endangering the welfare of a child. Relatives of the boy said Monday they suspected his mother's boyfriend, who was babysitting him at the time.

Police on Monday said they wanted to question Harper.

The death remains under investigation as the exact cause of death is determined.

He allegedly called Aidan's mother on Monday morning to tell her there was something wrong with him and she told him to call 911, sources told WNBC Monday. When EMTs arrived at the home, the boyfriend was gone.

"They killed my cousin. They killed him and it's not nice," Aidan's cousin Sonia Monroe told 1010 WINS.

"He's bubbly, full of life, full of energy -- he's a great kid," Monroe said.
