April 12, 2019 - 1:30 pm

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- A father was able to escape a three-alarm fire in his Jersey City home by climbing out a second floor window with his three young daughters Friday morning.

The fire started in the rear section of the four family house on Gates Avenue just after 10:30 a.m.

Neighbors were able to help them down.

Firefighters quickly responded and were able to put out the flames but have previously been to that building.

"We were here for a fire in December and they corrected the issues," Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop said.

The cause of the flames are under investigation.
