NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Tony-nominated actor Nick Cordero -- who has been in a medically-induced coma for weeks and had his right leg amputated last month due to coronavirus complications -- has started to open his eyes, his wife said in an Instagram Live post Monday.

Amanda Kloots said Cordero, 41, is making "good progress" after being taken off a ventilator last week followed by a tracheostomy. Cordero -- who has appeared on Broadway in "Waitress" and "Bullets Over Broadway" -- is currently at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

"The doctors say Nick is looking good," Kloots, a fitness trainer, said. "His settings on everything are getting better, so he says that there's good progress. And now we just need him to wake up."

She added, "His eyes are opening up but they're not connected to anything right now. So we just need them to connect to something."

Kloots also shared that she's reached out to others who have loved ones recovering from coronavirus to "get an idea of the mindset of when they wake up out of a coma and what they remember." She said the chats have been "super helpful" to help give her an idea of what to expect.
