Newsstand vendor attacked, robbed, on UWS, 2 suspects sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A newsstand vendor is recovering after being attacked and robbed overnight on the Upper West Side.

Shortly after midnight near the intersection of Broadway and 60th Street, officials say the victim was approached from behind by two men who struck him in the back.

The vendor was also stabbed.

Officials say the attackers made off with approximately $1,000 dollars in cash.

The victim was transported to Mount Sinai West Medical Center where he was treated for a minor cut.

It's unclear if the injury resulted from blunt force or from being stabbed.

The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction and are still at large.

Police describe the first man as as 6'2" with a thin build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a red jacket.

The second suspect was last seen with a black jacket and blue jeans and is approximately 18-years-old.
