NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A woman died Thursday after being struck by a piece of plywood that flew off scaffolding in Queens.

It happened at 41st and Main Streets in Flushing.

Xiang Ji, 67, of Westbury was taken to New York–Presbyterian Queens Hospital but did not survive.

The city Buildings Department issued a citation to the building to stop work at the site and to put up protective scaffolding which was up Friday morning.

Also on Thursday, a piece of terra cotta fell from at new 84-story skyscraper under construction at 111 West 57th Street in Manhattan.

It struck a taxi punching a hole in the roof. Nobody was injured.

Building owners across the city are reminded to prevent flying debris with the high winds we've been having.
