NEW YORK (1010 WINS) The weather was lousy but that didn't stop it from raining dogs (in costumes) at the 29th Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade on Sunday, October 20, 2019.

Hundreds of people and their pooches competed for more than a thousand dollars in prizes provided by Petco. Heart of Chelsea Veterinary Group was the presenting sponsor along with Amazon and Klarma. The event raised more than $10,000 for the Tompkins Square Dog Run which is the city's oldest dog run, dating back to 1900. The parade is also supported by NYC Councilwoman Carlina Rivera and GOLES, Good Old Lower East Side, a neighborhood housing and preservation organization that has served the Lower East Side of Manhattan since 1977, dedicated to tenants’ rights, homelessness prevention, economic development, and community revitalization. Members of the NYPD's 7th Precinct were on pooch patrol.

1010 WINS Midday Anchor Susan Richard was the emcee.  The parade was founded by Garrett Rosso and organized by Garrett and Jennifer-jo Moyer, Executive Director of the PupScouts who also co-emceed.  Watch video in Susan's latest edition of her video blog AllForAnimalsTV:
