Suspect Robbed Staten Island Barbershop, Pistol-Whipped Man, Police Say

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police on Sunday were looking for a suspect who allegedly robbed a Staten Island barbershop and pistol-whipped a man.

The incident happened at 8:27 p.m. Friday at Richie’s Barbershop, at 19 Olympia Blvd. in Midland Beach, police said.

A man allegedly walked in showed a gun and announced a robbery, police said. The suspect then struggled with a 27-year-old man, hitting him in the head and body numerous times with the gun, police said.

The victim needed 20 staples in the head, police said.

The suspect got away with $300 in cash, as well as a Rolex watch, a necklace, a bracelet, and a wedding band, police said.

Police released photos of the suspect Sunday.
