Suspect Charged With Shooting, Seriously Wounding Livery Cab Driver In The Bronx
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A suspect has been arrested after a livery cab driver was shot and seriously wounded in the Bronx last weekend.
Jeffrey Cisnero Camacho was shot repeatedly on St. Patrick’s Day at Boston Road and Fish Avenue in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx.
The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers said Camacho begged the gunman to spare his life because he has three little girls.
But the robber not only shot Camacho, he took the only cash he had -- $23.
Federation spokesman Fernando Mateo spoke with Camacho and with 1010 WINS.
“Mr. Camacho, who was shot eight times, told me that he forgives this man, because God knows what was going through his mind, what was going through his heart, and what life was all about,” Mateo said.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Camacho with his recovery.
A suspect, Mario Powell, was arrested Saturday and stands charged so far with first-degree robbery.
