NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is on it's way to New York City from its home in Florida, New York. The tree was cut down on Thursday and is expected to arrive in Manhattan on Saturday.

The 14-ton Norway spruce was growing in the front lawn of Carol Schultz's house. She purchased it as a sapling in 1959 and displayed it on her coffee table before planting it in her front yeard.

The tree was lifted by crane onto a flatbed truck for the journey. When it arrives in Rockefeller Center, it will be surrounded by scaffolding for the decoration process.

The tree lighting ceremony takes place on Dec. 4.

1010 Wins' Glenn Schuck tweeted a video of the tree as it was cut loose.
