NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police in Brooklyn are looking for a man with a gun who rampaged through East Flatbush on Friday night.

NYPD Chief of Investigations William Aubry told 1010 WINS that the gun man provokes "grave concerns about public safety" and that the department is stepping up efforts to catch him before he strikes again.

Police said that just after 8 p.m. on Friday, the man began a conversation with another man at the corner of Lefferts Ave. and New York Ave. before hitting him on the back of the head with his handgun.

He then continued down Lefferts Ave., where he yelled at a woman seated in her car before hitting her side view mirror.

Then, he used his gun to shatter two windows at Beth Rivkah Elementary School. He was last seen heading down East New York Avenue.

Police describe him as a black man between the ages of 25 and 35. He was last seen wearing a gray sweat suit and light sneakers. He can be seen in the NYPD's video pointing the gun at his own head.
