NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Tuesday's Ohio Democratic presidential primary has been canceled because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Gov. Mike DeWine said in-person voting cannot go ahead in Ohio Tuesday as planned. "We cannot conduct this election tomorrow, the in-person voting for 13 hours tomorrow and conform to [CDC> guidelines," he tweeted.

"A lawsuit will be filed to postpone the election until June 2, 2020," DeWine added. "In the meantime, voters would still be able to request absentee ballots. It will be up to a judge to decide if the election will be postponed."

He added that the health and safety of Ohioans is not negotiable.
