NYPD Officer Accused Of Flashing 5 Female Cops While On Duty

March 02, 2018 - 6:20 pm

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Authorities say an NYPD officer was flashing more than just a badge while on duty in Brooklyn.

NYPD Officer Anthony Avosso, 31, was arraigned Friday on seven counts of public lewdness and four counts of exposure after he allegedly flashed five female police officers while on duty.

Internal affairs investigated a claim last month of one female officer and soon found four more, Sonia Rincon reported.

"There is no place for this defendant's alleged outrageous behavior anywhere in our society and especially within our police department. I commend the Internal Affairs Bureau and my prosecutors for taking swift action to investigate and prosecute these disturbing allegations," Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said.

Avosso came under investigation following a complaint by a female officer assigned to the 60th precinct. She told a PBA delegate that Avosso had exposed himself to her in the station house, while on duty, on three seperate occasions.

The DA said further investigation revealed that Avosso had allegedly done the same thing to a female probationary officer, just out of the Police Academy, while 'asking her about her career goals in the department.'

In another incident he's accused of exposing himself to a female officer who was sitting next to him on the subway.

A fourth officer claims Avosso masturbated in front of her during an overnight tour in an unmarked police car.

A fifth officer claims Avosso exposed himself in the stationhouse, and while the two were in a police car returning from court.

Avasso, who has been with the NYPD for almost 10 years, allegedly asked a probationary officer what her goals were in the department while touching himself, Rincon reported.

Avosso has been released without bail and will return to court on May 2, 2018.
