No April Fool's: Snow Falls Across Tri-State

April 02, 2018 - 11:35 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- April snow showers will hopefully bring May flowers.

Heavy snow fell across the Tri-State Monday morning, prompting school closures and transit and travel delays.

The Yankees home-opener was also postponed because of the storm.

White Plains saw almost 8 inches of snow, while Queens had 7 inches.

In Rockland County, the snow began around 3 a.m. and just kept coming and coming. After the morning commute, there were easily 6 or 7 inches on the ground and the snow was still falling.

And while it will melt fast, one woman, Tara, told 1010 WINS’ Glenn Schuck she has had enough.

“Ridiculous… I hate it,” she said. “I’m so over winter.”

But the paralegal had no choice to but to go to work.

New Jersey roadways were a mess. At one point, there was an 11-mile backup on the northbound NJ Turnpike, Karen Stewart reported.

The New York City Department of Sanitation issued a snow alert for the day and all winter weather information can be found at the city’s severe weather website or by calling 311.
