NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A New York City lawmaker thinks Staten Island would be the ideal home for a Trump presidential library.

City Council member Joseph Borelli, one of the three Republicans on the city council, has written the administration urging that it consider Staten Island for the eventual library.

"It's going to be built somewhere -- it's normally done in the president's home state, so if it's going to come somewhere, Staten Island is well poised," Borelli told 1010 WINS. We have a number of research institutions already, we have colleges that might want to partner with the presidential library so it could be an ultimate net positive for the borough."

Staten Island was the only borough that went for Trump in 2016 and Borelli anticipates support for a library there.

In the president's home borough of Queens, 75 percent of voters cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton and 86 percent of votes went to Clinton in Manhattan.
