Jon Stewart Goes To Washington To Oppose Changes To World Trade Center Health Program

March 05, 2018 - 2:40 pm

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Former "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart was in Washington on Monday.

Stewart was there to speak out against the Trump Administration's plan to reorganize the World Trade Center health program.

Under the president's proposed budget, the World Trade Center health program would be separated from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

That's got some some concerned about the possibility of services being disrupted.

The move would also mean several employees who were familiar with the cases of 9/11 first responders would no longer be assigned to them.

"He's a guy that has supported the first responders and veterans - he talks about how much he loves them," Stewart said. "It's a very simple thing. I'm sure he could put a stop to it this afternoon if he wanted to," Stewart added.

So far, there's been no comment from the White House.
