SHIRLEY, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Charges were filed Sunday against a truck driver who was involved in a fatal crash on the Long Island Expressway a day earlier.

Suffolk County police said Peter Visconti Jr.’s pickup truck first hit a minivan headed west on the expressway near the William Floyd Parkway, and then crossed over into the eastbound lanes, where it struck a motorcycle and another minivan.

A woman in the second minivan was killed in the crash. Another female passenger was hospitalized in critical condition, and the driver and four other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The man on the motorcycle was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center in Stony Brook with serious injuries, police said.

Visconti was also hurt and was transported to Long Island Medical Center in East Patchogue, police said.

Visconti, 37, of Mastic, is facing counts of drugged driving, unlicensed driving, and criminal possession of drugs, police said. Arraignment was pending Sunday afternoon.
