NEW YRK (1010 WINS) -- Brace yourself for a big Con Ed rate hike next month and for the next few years.

Con Ed is proposing a 4.2 percent hike on Jan 1, followed by a 4.7 percent increase in 2021 and another 4 percent hike in 2022.

Gas will be even more expensive with a 7.5 percent hike January 2020, followed by an 8.8 percent increase in 2021 and then a 7.2 percent hike in 2022.

The Public Service Commission is holding two hearings on the hikes this Wednesday: One at the SUNY Global Center in Manhattan located at East 55th Street. That begins at 6:30 p.m.

The other hearing will take place at the Yonkers Public Library at 1 p.m.
