NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A young girl and boy are dead after they were struck by a car in Park Slope on Monday.

At around 12:30 at Ninth Street and Fifth Avenue, a white Volvo sedan went through a red light and plowed into a crosswalk, striking a pregnant woman and her daughter along with the young child of a friend who was in a stroller, 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon reported.

Both children were dragged down the block before the car crashed into a parked car, Rincon reported.

The pregnant woman is currently at Methodist Hospital.

The people crossing Ninth Street had the light according to a witness.

This appears to have been a tragic accident in the sense that it was not something intentional, Rincon reported.

The female driver of the vehicle is in police custody and told police she had a medical issue which they are investigating.

She was not injured and is being evaluated and tested for any drugs or alcohol.
