NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Three men have been indicted in federal court for a 30-year-old drug murder.

Luis Merced, 48, Dorian "Kool-Aid" Brooks, 50, and William Skinner, 49, all face charges in the Southern District of New York for the shooting of Efren Cardenas on Feb. 10, 1989.

The three have been accused of murder in furtherance of drug trafficking. If convicted, the charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison and a maxiumum of death or life in prison.

Cardenas was shot to death on Herkimer St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Merced and Skinner were arrested Tuesday, while Brooks was already in custody on other charges.

“For over 30 years, the family of Efren Cardenas has been waiting for justice," Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said in a statement. "Today, thanks to the extraordinary partnership of the NYPD, the DEA, and the Special Agents of our office, the defendants are charged in federal court for this decades-old murder.”
