2 dead following head-on crash in Long Island

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two people are dead following a head-on crash in Long Island on Tuesday night.

Suffolk County police told WABC that a Mercedes Benz was traveling east in the westbound lane along Sunrise Highway in Southampton when the driver crashed head-on into a Toyota Camry and killed its driver.

The driver of the Camry was identified as Michelle Navas, 28, of Hicksville.

The driver of the Mercedes, Gumercindo Tinit-Tezen, 28, of Mastic, was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Medical Center, WABC reports. 

Westbound lanes of the highway were closed for more than eight hours after the wreck.
