NYPD, City Officials Take Aim At Drunk Driving With 'Know Your Limit' Campaign

July 02, 2018 - 11:19 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- With summer here and the 4th of July approaching, New York City is kicking off an effort to discourage drinking and driving.

The 'Know Your Limit' campaign offers $10 off a taxi or for hire ride with Curb, Lyft, or Via. The message from officials is that it's okay to celebrate, just don't get behind the wheel or you'll wind up behind bars.

"You really don't need the headache, you really don't need to hire an attorney. Save yourself a whole bunch of money and aggravation by not driving or getting behind the wheel when you're under the influence," NYPD Transportation Chief, Thomas Chan said.

The crackdown is coming because a quarter of the city's fatal DWI crashes every year happen between Memorial Day and July 4.
