New York Drivers Slapped With 9 Million Parking Tickets Last Year

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- As they used to say on a really old TV show; "there are 8 million stories in the naked city."

And 9 million parking tickets. That's how many the cops handed out last year.

Even with super special New York Press plates, 1010 WINS' newsman John Montone has gotten plenty of tickets, so has Eddie the trucker.

"Right now we doing deliveries, there's no loading dock, there's no nothing, it's all sidewalk, and they still give you a ticket," he said.

Sometimes two tickets.

"One say for no standing in a bus stop, then they give you another ticket because the driver wasn't in his truck. How can I be in the truck if I have to unload the truck?" he asked.

A passenger van driver said he'll park outside the Hotel Pennsylvania, run in to use the men's room for 5 minutes, and come back to find a ticket -- call it a doody duty.
