New Yorkers Dealing With Hot, Steamy Temps For Next Few Days

July 02, 2018 - 6:17 pm

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- July sure is of to a hot and humid start.

By Monday afternoon, temps reached the mid 90s with a real feel of 105. Tuesday will still be quite hot and humid with hazy sunshine and a high of 92. There may be an afternoon
thunderstorm over the Jersey Hills and in some Hudson Valley suburbs.

A heat advisory is in effect until Tuesday evening.

New Yorkers will have to get along as best they can in the heat and humidity.

Relief may be in sight on Friday.

It was already 81 in midtown, before the sun even came up -- probably not a good day to garden.

"I was out in the garden in the back and I feel so hot, I can't even make it into the house," one woman said.

A group of tourists from Canada said they were cool with the hot weather.

"It's just as hot back home, we're from Ontario, Canada, actually just as hot if not hotter there, so we knew what we were coming into," one man said.

For the record, the high in Ontario is only supposed to be about 82.

Officials say residents should continue to take precautions against scorching heat and humidity.

The city says its cooling centers will remain open through Independence Day.

Cooling centers are places like libraries and senior centers that have air-conditioning. Find a full list of the centers at
