CORONAVIRUS ON LONG ISLAND: Nassau in a 'good place' but 'not done' with coronavirus, hospitalizations decline for 5th straight day

    NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced on Monday that the county is "not done" with the coronavirus, but now feels it is now in a "good place," after seeing a decrease of patients on ventilators and hospitalizations.

    Hospitalizations decreased by 18 percent for the fifth straight day, she said.

    Curran reported 172 new deaths bringing the total to 1,281 fatalities countywide.

    She also said that there were 1,474 new cases reported, bringing the county total to 30,013 positive cases.

    There were 204 discharges and the number of patients on ventilators saw a 15 person decrease and is now at 470. 

    Suffolk County reported 27,485 cases and 825 deaths on Monday.
