Nassau County Police Issue Warning Following Spike In Heroin Overdoes

MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Police in Nassau County are issuing a warning following an increase in drug overdoses in the Massapequa area.

Newsday reported Tuesday that in the last two weeks, there had been a spike in reports of heroin overdoses. A total of six occurred within 13 days, including a 24-year-old man who died Saturday.

Nassau police confirmed that the overdoses were linked to a lethal batch of heroin.

Newsday reported that multiple arrests have been made in the area in connection to the overdoses, including Edward Gillespie who allegedly sold to the victim who died.
