CORONAVIRUS ON LONG ISLAND: Nassau County cases surpass 25K, death toll now over 1K

    NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Nassau County Executive Laura Curran reported on Wednesday that there are now 25,250 positive cases in the county. 

    She also reported that the coronavirus related death toll has jumped to 1,001 deaths.

    Hospitalizations in Nassau County increased by 13, for a total of 2,477. 503 patients are on ventilators, which increased by 22 from the day before.

    There were also 132 discharges, according to Curran.

    "The trend continues," Curran said. "Much higher rate of discharges than coming in."

    There are currently 148 police officers that are positive for the virus, 135 are quarantined and 204 have been cleared and are back to work, Curran reported.

    Suffolk County has reported a total of 608 deaths county-wide on Wednesday.
