April 06, 2018 - 9:15 am

TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Governor Phil Murphy is outlining a program to make community college tuition free in New Jersey, but only for students with a family income below $45,000.

The governor also acknowledged that free isn't really free.

It will cost state taxpayers $50-million in the fiscal year 2019 budget, but Murphy expects that about 15,000 students will be able to attend community college tuition free starting next January.
