NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The MTA is preparing for any flooding that may happen during Tropical Storm Fay.

The MTA showed 1010 WINS how it’s started clearing the way for rain over the last few days to be pumped away from the subway system and into the city's storm drainage system.

If that doesn’t happen, teams are ready to be deployed and handle the situation.

Transit crews will continue to check on locations, tracks, as well as above-ground stations that could be funneling even more water into the system.

Sandbags may be placed in certain places, including Lower Manhattan or Sixth Avenue.

Flooding has already been reported across New York City and parts of New Jersey.
