Mountainside Cops File Suit, Claim Sex Toy Was Part Of Hostile Work Environment

MOUNTAINSIDE, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- You've no doubt heard of the thin blue line, but how about the big blue sex toy?

Five cops in Mountainside have filed a lawsuit claiming they were subject to a hostile work environment at the hands of two other officers. Evidence in the suit includes a video in which one of the officers - Lt. Thomas Murphy - appears to be encouraging the other officer Sgt. Andrew Huber to smack a dispatcher in the face with a large blue sex toy referred to as 'big blue.'

There was allegedly worse than that going on.

About a year-and-a-half ago, attorney Joshua McMahon tried to bring the issue up at a Mountainside Council Meeting, but the mayor wouldn't let him.

"You have oversight responsibility mayor," he said. "If you want to silence me because I'm bringing misconduct to your attention, that's on you. We've never met before, I don't know you."

"Sir, please stop the threatening attitdue I do not appreciate it," the mayor replied.

"I'm bringing misconduct to your attention," McMahon said.

"You keep saying that. That's what you think it is," the mayor answered.

Huber and Murphy have been placed on administrative leave along with the police chief, although the mayor said no conclusions have been reached.
