MONTCLAIR, NJ (1010 WINS) -- He was on the run for two weeks, but authorities have nabbed the New Jersey man they say murdered his girlfriend last month.

The long arm of the law reached into Cuba to bring back accused killer James Ray.

The 55-year-old is charged with shooting 44-year-old Angela Bledsoe in the couple's Montclair home, and then dropping their 6-year-old daughter off with his brother in Allentown.

"Traveled to the southwest United States and then crossed over the border into Mexico, from there he took a plane to Cuba," Essex County Prosecutor, Theodore Stevens said.

Ray was held at customs in Cuba.

"This is not the first time we've dealt with them, but this seems to be an easing of the relationship," FBI agent Greogry Eerie said.

NorthJersey.com reports, Bledsoe was shot three times. She was found by cops conducting a wellness check.

Ray will appear in court next week and faces life in prison if convicted.
